The gap price is the difference you need to pay, between the fee we charge and the rebate you receive from Medicare. The rebate is forwarded to you direct from Medicare, and you then forward this rebate to us. Please note: the outstanding balance remains your responsibility until we receive the rebate cheque from you. Annual gap fee The annual gap fee is an optional, once a year gap payment that you can make, towards your healthcare at Pioneer Health Albany. In return we will bulk bill all your consults at Pioneer Health Albany for the next 12 months. The annual gap fee does not apply to; hospital consults medical reports and occupational medicals workers compensation travel vaccines and non-schedule vaccines facility fee Please note the annual gap fee is not transferable to another patient. If you have any queries, please see our friendly reception team who will be only to happy to discuss them with you. Prescriptions Please make a short appointment with your doctor for repeat prescriptions. If this consult is kept to a script only you will be bulk billed directly to Medicare. However, if other concerns are discussed during the consult the doctor may charge a fee. Facility fee The facility fee is to cover the cost of consumables, instrument sterilizing and dressings for all lesion removals and minor procedures. This fee is $33 (including GST) and is payable at the time of the procedure or lesion removal. Payment of fees The doctors at Pioneer Health are now bulk billing all children under 16 years of age. For patients 16 and over, we are not a regular bulk billing practice, and we require payment for consultations on the day of service. You may pay using cash, cheque, EFTPOS or credit card. Once you have paid your gap payment, reception staff can process your claim and forward it to Medicare. Medicare will send you the cheque for the outstanding amount and you are required to forward this cheque immediately to the doctor concerned. If you are experiencing financial difficulty please speak to your doctor about payment.
